ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Photo taken in Karangahake Gorge - New Zealand
(This picture inspired the painting 'Kissing Couple')
Dart:
I was born in Hannibal, MO and moved to the St. Louis, MO area at the age of 11. When in school, I took every art course that my High School had to offer. Two years after Graduting, I entered into the US ARMY and while running an obstacle course in Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, KY., I tore up my knee and was discharged shortly there after. I worked for the United States Postal Service for 12 years, before going on Disability Retirement. I am the proud father of three sons. In 2004, I met Ali online in the Yahoo Chat Rooms. In 2005, I went to New Zealand for a 'Trip of a Lifetime' to meet her face to face. Things went so well that I proposed to her just moments after the above photo was taken.

Ali:
Ali was born in Putaruru, New Zealand. Her parents were in the Plant and Nursery field and Ali has worked in several nurseries in the Bay of Plenty area of New Zealand. Even though Ali has no formal training in art, she has always enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her two sons, as they were growing up. After meeting Dart, she moved to the United States and they were married in August of 2005.

How we started Spray Paint Art:
Ali and I saw the 'Space Art Family' doing this style of artwork at the Oktoberfest in St. Charles, MO in Oct. 2006 and we instantly captivated by the techniques used to create such unique and original works of Art. The couple offered to teach us how to do this style of painting, but they were booked up for over a month. We went home and a couple of days later went out and purchased several cans of spray paint and paper and began practicing.
Since both of us had previously enjoyed doing many different forms of art, we picked up the knack for spray painting rather quickly. After a little over two weeks of practicing, every night, for 6, 8 or even 10 hours per night,we began doing 'LIVE PERFORMANCES'.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO COSMO KID
In Sept 2007, we went to give Cosmo Kid a hand at the Virginia State Fair and
the Anderson County Fair, in Anderson, S. Carolina.
It was an
invaluable experience. Cosmo had many tips, techniques and
new ideas for paintings that he shared with us.
Thank you for all your help Cosmo!
The paintings on these pages are the results of our efforts. Please enjoy browsing our website and if you see a painting that you like, call or email us and we will give you information on how to place an order.
